Three first steps
- Open the guide in a PDF app that fills forms. Adobe Acrobat Reader is free on computers and phones. Then you can type straight into the boxes. Prefer paper? Print it.
- Read page 2 first. It's the scam warning. Official searches are free, and no agency will ask you for a fee to release your money.
- Fill in "My Search Info," then start with Section 01. Search your name on MissingMoney.com and in every state you've lived in. Log each search in the tracker, even when you find nothing.
